4th Birthday!

4 February 2007

Elijah had a really fun birthday party! We invited the next door negihbors and all 5 of the kids and 11 kids from his Pinjarra Preschool class came. He had a Jumping Castle and Ice cream - He was so excited and it made him pretty popular at school for a while! What a cutie :)

E - Li - Jah!

16 September 2006

Elijah has begun to say his name - if asked "who are you" or "what's your name" he will say E - Li - Jah. It's very cute!
He is saying 3-4 words all the time and we are so thrilled to see that he knows hundreds of words. When he learns a new sound he uses it. He knows almost every word but just hasn't been able to say them - he must love being able to communicate as much as we are enjoying him expressing his needs and wants for us. He is adorable and we are so thankful that his personality is being expressed now that he can talk!

Elijah obeys Mommy!

15 October 2006

It has been a bit of work to bond with Elijah, he just didn't seem to know how to bond with me in the beginning and wanted only Daddy. Lately he has been a Mommy's boy and I have been really thankful to see that he has not only shown that he loves me but that he has the ability to attach to all the important people in his life. Today I was thilled when I told Elijah he could play with his Legos after he went upstairs and put his jammies on - his initial response was "NO!" but I couldn't have been happier than when I started to count . . . "1", and before I even got to "2" he got up crying but obeying me and without any more conflict. I turned to Matt and said "that is the most important sign of good attachment I have ever seen in Elijah! He agreed. I was thinking about how it must be like that with our relationship with God also . . . when we have that strong trust we obey without much of a protest . . . I hope someday God sees the same attachment in me that I saw in Elijah today! I'm so proud of Elijah!

3 & 4 words

15 October 2006

We just returned from a week long vacation up to and at the Gold Coast. Elijah has been talking so much! While on vacation he said "No more wa ta (water) heah (here) when filling up the sand castle moat with water. He also said "Sam has Buzz" when we were putting a Buzz Lightyear Sweatshirt in his suitcase. Lots more words and phrases were said but those were the most memorable :) Wait to go Little Guy!

It was two years ago today that we were declared the family for Elijah Matthew Witt! It was of course ordained from before the foundations of the world - but the Ukrainian government just had to get on board with the Creator of the Universe! In Acts 17 it says that God planned where each person would live! I was reading my bible one day and this verse just hit me (yep, like a brick) It's amazing to think that this little person was created with the knowledge that he would be grafted in to the Witt Family Tree. We are grafted in to Gods Family Tree and that is even more amazing.!
Happy Gotcha Day Elijah! We're so glad we gotchya!
Gotchya Pie: (we celebrated tonight with this invented-for-Elijah treat)
1 ready made pie crust, baked and filled with
2 pints of strawberries sliced and sprinkled with sugar and mixed with 1 pint of store bought pourable custard
homemade whipped cream - spread on top YUMMY!

Memory Games & Puzzles, Puzzles.

27 September 2007

A couple of weeks ago (about 10 Sept 06) I picked Elijah up from school and his teacher Miss Kylie mentioned that he had won the memory game they played that day - that he had remembered some of the cards she couldn't remember. I asked if it was maybe a fluke and she said that No he had won every time they played the game!
Last week ( about 18 Sept 06) Elijah had a great day at preschool working on a puzzle. When I arrived to pick him up his teacher Monique mentioned that he had worked really hard for about 20 minutes on a puzzle that was also a "puzzle" - in other words it was tricky in addition to having pieces that you put together and into the puzzle. She said he worked patiently and was able to do it. That night when we arrived home Isbella and I were playing a US map game on the computer. Elijah got out the US map puzzle and was playing with it. The next morning during breakfast Elijah got out the US map puzzle again - I watched him take every piece out of the puzzle and stack them next to it. I looked over later and he was about half done putting the pieces back in so I sat down next to him and he had the puzzle completed in about 10 more minutes. It was pretty amazing! It almost seemed like he remembered where the states went becuse he picked up Georgia when he got to that part of the puzzle and put it in upside down, it took him a few tries to put it in the right way but he seemed to know that was the correct state for that spot on the puzzle. His speech therapist said he has "Superior Intelligence" I said I thought he seemed gifted in some areas and she said yes, that is what Superior Intelligence means!
Today at school Elijah was having soup and he said "more bread", his teacher Amy asked who had asked for more bread - she was so surprised when one of the little girls said it was Elijah because she said it was said so clearly! Yeah Elijah!

A B C's Mommy.

14 September 2006

Elijah was looking for the refrigerator magnets we had removed for Matt's 40th party. He looked at the fridge and then with his little hands palms up and shoulders shrugging asked "A B C's Mommy - A B C's?"

talking

13 September 2006

At school today Elijah said " Me first" and also "My turn" He is starting to use his words!
Yesterday he told the other kids - "My Daddy!" when Matt showed up to pick him up.

I lub you!

13 September 2006

So fun! Elijah told me he loves me! It's so amazing to hear those words spontaneously from Elijah , especially since he's 3.5 and we've been waiting 2 years to hear them!

Pway.

21 August 2006

Tonight I put Elijah to bed. He yelled after me as I tried to walk out of his room. "pway!" I had forgotten. He folded his little hands and closed his eyes . . . tank oo, home, mommy, daddy, jo jo, belle, zeke, amen.
It was great to understand what he was thanking God for . "Good on ye Mate!"
